Token

_{**July 2010: made a couple of revisions before submitting for the show. I decided the dark horizon line was too distracting and harsh so I added some lighting effects and brought the clouds out to originate from the woman}

If I never see another daylilly... Well, there was this themed show. You had to incorporate daylillies. That's what started this idea.

I like the photography technique of multiple exposures. That was the base idea here: of capturing several in-flight shots of a single dove as it travels to its destination and delivers a message [token]. But obviously, then the trick is to capture that in one single picture. I imagine a photographer shaking their fist at me right now, as accomplishing this with a camera is no doubt a difficult task. But it was still a challenge to decide how to recreate this digitally, as well.

I didn't intend for the people to be representative of anyone in particular. But if you interpret the woman to be a goddess of peace/spring/renewal, such as Eirene or Pax, that would be correct.

If you are interested in other symbolism: part of the reason I used this concept for the daylilly, is because this flower has been known to represent peacefulness, alleviating one's worries, and in China, it can even be used to represent filial devotion to one's mother. Apply that to the story in the picture however you like.
